This is how l say thank you. Yep, with chocolate. This is my chunky hedgehog slice. The person l am giving it to loves this and l’m happy to make it for her.
All the gifts l make are home made and this, with bartering, is a great way to interact with people. It’s not always chocolate, but, it’s always something l know that particular person likes.
So here’s the recipe if you want to make it.
Chunky hedgehog slice
250g Marie biscuits, l use the sugar free ones
150g sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup of coconut
1/4 cup of walnuts cut into bite size pieces
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
130g dark chocolate
Break the biscuits into small chunks in a bowl. Add the coconut and walnuts. Melt the butter and chocolate and add the vanilla. Add this mixture to the biscuits and stir to combine. Add the condensed milk and stir to combine. Place on a lined tray and put into the fridge to set.
If you want a smoother looking slice you can crush the biscuits; l think they look, and taste, better in chunks and l don’t always use all the condensed milk, rather, l add it gradually and stop once l think it’s combined.
I got this recipe originally from the wonderful BakePlaySmile blog and have adapted it.
I love giving someone a home made gift to say thanks. It doesn’t take that much effort and when you’re making something you know they like it makes even more enjoyable.
